X-Pert.tv Partners with MMBTV on Large-Scale Broadcasting Project

X-Pert Multimedia Solutions, a leading broadcast software developer, is implementing a large-scale broadcasting project together with Milano Media Broadcast (MMBTV), a global satellite service provider. The project started nearly two years ago and covers 42 channels.

The challenge

The main challenge of the project was the numerous channels that needed a fully automated, redundant, reliable, and uninterrupted 24/7 broadcasting process.

The solution

X-Pert Multimedia Solutions provided both software and hardware for the project and the channels.

24 SD channels, 9 HD channels, and 9 backup channels are configured and packed with X-Pert Playout, our playout automation solution, and X-Pert Graphics, our graphics manager. These 42 channels are located on 14 servers. The multi-channel per server option (3 channels per server) provides the needed operability and reliability at a significantly lower price.

The management servers are equipped with X-Pert Playout Control, which enables a remote web interface for monitoring, control, and playlist preparation. X-Pert Backup Supervisor and X-Pert IP Switch ensure seamless backup handling when needed.

The quality of the content is guaranteed from the beginning of the broadcast process via X-Pert Quality Check, our control analysis and assessment of media quality solution.

In the center of the whole TV workflow are two redundant storages: a Windows-based master storage, and a Linux-based backup storage.

The broadcast process continuity is guaranteed through redundancy on every level – on a content/storage level, on a network level, on Playout and Graphics level. This redundancy model lowers to a minimum the probability of system failures and ensures 24/7 automated broadcasting.

In addition, X-Pert Multimedia Solutions provides quick and thorough support and ongoing development services, which ensure the entire platform is up-to-date and continuously evolving with new features.
