X-Pert Multimedia Solutions, a leading broadcast software developer, has added support for SRT to its X-Pert Playout on both the encoding and decoding sides and to its X-Pert Ingest. The company also joined the SRT Alliance. SRT Alliance is a community of over 350 industry leaders, united by the mission to change the way the world streams, last month.
“SRT gives an additional value to our software by ensuring delivery of high quality, secure, and low latency video streaming across public networks. Now our customers have a new option for video over IP transport in addition to the existing UDP, RTP, RTMP, and HLS protocols,” said Ludmil Kushinov, CEO of X-Pert Multimedia Solutions. “We are very proud to become a member of the SRT community and to support the growth of this innovative technology which is beneficial to all of us.”
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is a freely available open source video transport protocol developed by Haivision in 2017. It was recognized with an Emmy Award by NATAS’ Technology and Engineering Achievement Committee for excellence and engineering creativity for “Pioneering Reliable Transmission Method for Live Contribution and Distribution TV Links.”
The technology optimizes streaming performance across unpredictable networks with easy firewall traversal, bringing the best quality live video over the worst networks. In addition, security is among the crucial benefits of SRT protocol as the technology allows encryption. Besides that, SRT easily copes with packet loss, jitter, and fluctuating bandwidth, ensuring video integrity.
“X-Pert Multimedia is a brand-new company founded by well-known playout experts from the industry,” said Jesús (Suso) Carrillo, Director of SRT Alliance at Haivision. “By implementing SRT, its solution benefits from the lowest latency, enhanced security, and interoperability over any network.”
By the end of June, X-Pert Multimedia Solutions will start a series of webinars showcasing the benefits of the technology and its products.
